Danielle McNeill Smith received her M.S. in Clinical Psychology at Auburn University in  Montgomery, Alabama, in 2006. She added an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology in Atlanta, GA, in 2010, and completed her doctoral degree at the Georgia School of Professional Psychology in Atlanta, GA in 2014. Her dissertation explored the use of virtual reality technology with patients diagnosed with schizophrenia.

 

Dr. Smith describes her theoretical orientation as time-limited psychodynamic, and she has had specialty training in Psychological First Aid. Additionally, she is a certified Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk (AMSR) trainer. Clinically, she most enjoys psychological assessment, forensic psychology, neuropsychology, and working with persons who have severe and persistent mental illness. Her supervisory orientation is Developmental, meeting clinicians where they are and supporting them in developing their professional identity. She prefers students who are self-motivated and take initiative in their own learning.

 

When she’s not at work, Dr. Smith is an avid fan of college football (WAR EAGLE!!), and she likes to spend time with her husband and two furry babies (some people call them dogs). She also enjoys cooking and developing new recipes.
