Dr. Henson received her PSY.D. degree in Clinical Psychology from Western Kentucky University. Prior to completing her doctorate degree, she was an LPC-MHSP, State Approved Supervisor in Tennessee. During this time, she worked at a Severe Behavioral Intervention High School in an urban area where she specialized in working with gang-involved youth. She also served as the Treatment Director at a Residential Treatment Center for adolescents, and served as the Clinical Supervisor for a Crisis Intervention Suicide Prevention program. In September 2017, Dr. Henson began working at WSH where her responsibilities have included completing intake assessments on Admissions, conducting group and individual therapy on the Acute unit, and is now serving as the Interim Program Director for Acute Services.
Dr. Henson describes her theoretical orientation as Cognitive-Behavioral, and she has training in CBT, TF-CBT, and ACT. She particularly enjoys working with young adults aged 16-25. When providing supervision, she feels it is important to meet clinicians where they are and provide support and consultation as needed. She has a passion for clinician Self-Care and incorporates Self-Care into her supervision.
Dr. Henson enjoys spending time with her family, attending concerts, and planting flowers. She is obsessed with her nieces and nephew and will gladly show you pictures and videos at your request.
